Employee Incentives

3 Tips for Getting it Right

Say ”thank you”

The best incentive you can give to your employees involves no monetary efforts. It’s the simplest, yet, the most effective way to provide workplace impetus. Saying “thank you” for a job well done may seem easy as pie, but when you’re working in a fast-paced environment with high levels of stress, you may tend to forget it. But no matter how hectic your job is, you should always have time to give your employees what they truly deserve—recognition.

Giving commendations doesn’t have to be flowery and exaggerated. A short, sincere, and specific compliment is enough to boost a worker’s confidence and self-esteem.

When you regularly give out employee recognition, you will:

  • Boost employee productivity
  • Raise profitability
  • Retain top workers
  • Improve employee loyalty
  • Create a collaborative work environment
  • Increase employee motivation
  • Build positive engagement

Provide the best equipment

To maximize productivity and reach optimum performance, you want to make sure that your employees are using the best tools. Sure, this will mean initial expenses on your part, but if you invest in high-quality equipment, you’ll make their jobs easier and more comfortable to do. More importantly, providing ergonomic gears is a way of telling your employees that “I value your health.”

Here are some equipment that you should consider adding to your business cart:

  • Ergonomic chair – Provide great lumbar and neck support, especially for employees who have scoliosis or other back problems
  • Employee scheduling app – Helps manage their schedules much easier and can be accessed through their smartphones
  • Motor standing desk – allows it to be adjustable so your employees can have the option to work while standing
  • Mouse pad with wrist support – provides comfort from prolonged use while preventing carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS)
  • Noise-cancelling headset – essential for communication as it blocks background noises
  • Time management app – a very useful tool to prioritize their workloads

Give them public recognition

True, saying “thank you” is recognition itself, but giving out public recognition is a way of letting them know that you want everyone to know how grateful you really are. In turn, this can motivate other employees to work hard so they too can receive such praise!

The next time an employee does a remarkable job, try doing these:

  • Give them royalty. Give the employee the best parking spot, or a personalized coffee mug.
  • Name something in their honor. Temporarily name the conference room after them or other location in your business.
  • Inform the team. Mention the featured employee, and what they did, in front of the rest of the group, and encourage a round of applause.
  • Food picker. Let them choose a caterer for the next employee lunch.
  • Announce publicly. Inform the public of their remarkable job through the local paper, the company publications, or the website.
  • Boss for a day. Let them use the best office and be a boss for a day.
  • Create a wall of fame.  Find a space to highlight your featured employees. Every time someone deserves to be recognized, post their photo and what they did to get the honor.
